Women’s History Month

is an annual declared month that highlight the contributions of amazing women to events in history as well as today’s society.

Here at the SERG Restaurant Group, we take pride in recognizing our employees for going above and beyond. In honor of Women’s History Month, we will be featuring some of our top female employees at each of our restaurants.

Why was she selected:
Janie was selected for her hard work, optimism and overall charming personality.  Janie works two jobs and goes to school full time and is always happy to be here, she is regularly complimented by our guests for going above and beyond, with a smile on her face at all times!

Her favorite part of the job is getting to meet different people every day.

Brittany 

Why was she selected:
Brittany was selected because always arrives early for work and proceeds to never sit still once here, on slower days she cleans, tidies and takes overall care of a restaurant that she has great pride in.  She is eternally jolly and genuinely gets along with every person that walks in this building (guest or coworker).  She never complains about anything or treats anyone any differently, and it is this kindness that I find most impressive and is why I selected her to be honored for Women’s Month.
How long  has she worked for Black Marlin:

What is her favorite part of her job:
Flexible schedule, good bosses and that she can come in and be trusted to do her job.  She likes that she is able to be fun at work, and enjoys conversing with regulars that join us weekly for lunch or dinner.

Karleen 

Why was she selected:
Karleen was selected because she is one of the most positive energetic employees I have come across in my many years in this business.  She Truly cares about the guests, the product and coworkers.  To top it off Karleen is our top seller in the Ship Store!
How long  has she worked for Skull Creek Dockside:
6 months
What is her favorite part of her job:
I absolutely love our Ship Store because of the wide variety of quality merchandise that we carry.  Some of my favorite items are our soaps and candles from Low Country Candle Company.  The Quality of these products are excellent and have all natural ingredients and essential oils.  Our T-shirts are some of the best I have ever worn from our Legacy Brand to the Comfort Colors which hold up wash after wash.  Carla Marshalls Artwork and LowCountry Linen are favorites of mine and the customers.
Her advice to young girls:
“Never give up on any dream and always try to empower anyone in life and set a great example.”

Alecia 

Why was she selected:
Executive Chef Alecia was chosen because of how quickly she’s been able to create a positive team environment in the back of the house, her self-motivation to push her skills to the limits, and for countless other reasons!

What is her favorite part of her job:
I love training and growing our staff to become better at their job, and move forward in their culinary career.

Favorite food is corned beef rueben, it is fresh cooked here in our restaurant every 3 days. The quality is top notch!

Meggie 

Why was she selected:
Meggie was selected because she has played a crucial role as far as providing world-class service, training initiative, and for always going above and beyond.
How long  has she worked for Skull Creek Dockside:
1 year 3 months at Dockside, and at least 5 years with SERG Restaurant Group
What is her favorite part of her job:
Everyday is different! From the people you meet, to daily operations. It is a very fast paced environment and our team here makes every day, every shift, fun! That’s important!
Favorite thing to eat at Skull Creek Dockside:
How can I choose just one?! Not fair. But if I must, the Seared Salmon. The Mustard BBQ Glaze, the Creamy Collards, the Roasted Baby Sweet Potatoes, everything together in that dish is just amazing! I never thought I would say Salmon would be my favorite thing on any menu but this one is IT. If you haven’t tried it, you’re missing out!

Shelly was selected because she is always upbeat and in a good mood, even under adversity she keeps shining through!

What is her favorite part of her job:
Shelly loves being around people and she loves the food.

Why was she selected:
Mercedes was selected because she really does care about her customers and her coworkers. She never seems to have a bad day at work and keeps up the morale of everyone else around her.

She loves being a server and giving the guest the BEST experience!

Why was she selected:

We chose Jessica because she is a true example of what it is like to be a strong woman, especially at such a young age.  She has faced the most challenging struggle in life and yet has shown such strength, courage and unwavering faith.  Jessica comes to work everyday with a smile on her face, works hard, and is dedicated to giving the best customer service.  Her life exemplifies the meaning of what this month is all about.

Lindsey Schoch

Why was she selected:

I selected Lindsey because, for us, this month is about recognizing and celebrating those woman who have impacted our business in a positive way.  Lindsey shows incredible leadership skills, has a tireless commitment to our customers and far exceeds her job requirements, by going the extra mile everyday.  Not only does she have an unbelievable dedication to her job, she also has an unimaginable commitment to her child.  It is not just the month of March, it is every month, that I value, respect and admire Lindsey’s work ethic.  She is certainly a role model to many young woman, especially our staff.

What is her favorite part of her job:

I love what I do and the connections I have made. Jamie and Lori have made my job easy, they have taught me everything I know from front and back of the house, to the business side of food, beverage and hospitality. The best part of my job is making customers happy, seeing their faces come back weekly, and building bonds with them.

Her advice to young girls:

“My advice to all young ladies is to work hard, respect yourself and others, be honest and stay true to yourself. Wake up every morning like it’s your last because tomorrow is not promised.  Love and love hard, have faith in God, and know you are worthy.” 

Nicole 

Why was she selected:
Nicole was selected for her 10 years of service here at The Lodge along with her recent achievement of becoming a certified Cicerone.
How long  has she worked for The Lodge Hilton Head:

What is her favorite part of her job:
I LOVE beer and my customers. I have a really great “fan base” I guess you could say. I always wake up wanting to go to work and I remember my grandfather telling me as a kid that if you have a job you love, you will never work a day in your life. I am truly blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful people everyday. We have such a small staff here and the lodge that we are honestly more like family. I couldn’t not do what I do without my team.

Why was she selected:
Samantha was selected for her dedication, amazing work ethic, and her positive attitude.
How long  has she worked for The Lodge Hilton Head:
5 years
What is her favorite part of her job:
Definitely love the people I work with, they are like family. Also love all the beer knowledge I’ve gained and how being here has helped me grow as a person.

Juicy Lucy has to be my favorite burger, I love those porter onions, but when I’m not feeling like a burger I’ll have to go with the Caprese sandwich.

When it comes to my favorite drink I just can’t pick one, we have so many beer on draft, but any good stout and porter are my weakness.

I love my job here because there is so much room for growth. The SERG Restaurant Group is a very fun and loving company to work for. I can honestly say that this is the first company that I’ve worked for that actually cares about their employees. The level of compassionate they put in day and night is amazing. I wouldn’t want to work for any other company!

my favorite part of working at mamas is the staff and our awesome regular customers.

Why was she selected:
Barb was selected because she is the ultimate team player.  She provides high standards of customer service and Coastal Hospitality, all while putting other’s needs by herself.  She gets the most requests of guests to sit in her section.  She has the most Five Star Trip Adviser mentions and has helps build us from number 33 to number 19.  Barb also has a high sense of professionalism, while also making work fun.

Barb likes most about her job the people she works with, the freedom and cooperation of management.  She feels the staff is supported in a way that allows her and the staff to achieve higher standars

We selected Misty for her development from a server to management, and her development as a manager.  Misty is an integral part of the management team.  She has a very high set of standards for herself, and those who work with her.  She consistently holds herself to those standards, and is not bashful to hold others to the same accountability.

She’s worked for SERG Restaurant Group for 5 years and she’s worked at Poseidon for 2.5 years.
What is her favorite part of her job:
Misty loves interacting with guests.  She enjoys providing them with Coastal Hospitality, amazing food, and showcasing our beautiful restaurant and all we have to offer.

Why was she selected:
Lindsey was selected for her passion and ability to lead the retail team makes her a true asset. She always brings new and fresh ideas and has a constant positive attitude.

What is her favorite part of her job:
First off I love my colleagues. They make work so enjoyable. Also, I love that everyday is different, whether its merchandising a new product or working on a new summer clothing line. Working retail I also get to meet new guests everyday from all different parts of the country and world. Its fun getting to chat with them and help them in any way.

Kelly was selected because of her great attitude, team work, and her ability as a leader. She also makes sure we all have fun while working extremely hard.

What is her favorite part of her job:
I love the people I work with, being able to work with this gorgeous view and giving true coastal hospitality to all of the guests.

Why was she selected:
Sandi was selected because she has been such an indispensable part of our management team at WiseGuys over the past 4 years. She’s so welcoming to all or our guests, goes above and beyond to not only make a connection with them, but make sure they leave with a great dining experience. She treats our guests as family, and it shows when they return to dine with us.

What is her favorite part of her job:
I really enjoy meeting new guests as well welcoming our returning friends to WiseGuys. And of course the highlight is “Saturdays with Sandi”.

Coming from the NY Metropolitan area, there is nothing like a charred, juicy WiseGuys Delmonico Ribeye!

“Being a mom of a 25 year old daughter. My advice to her has always been to be the best you can be. No one can fault you for trying your best. Also, in todays age of texting I try to guide young girls to be more vocal and use their own minds to solve problems.”

Why was she selected:
Ashley was selected because she is a true team player. She has grown so much at WiseGuys is her 4 years with us. From behind the bar, on the floor in the lounge or our back dining room, she handles all our guest needs with true Coastal Hospitality. She sets her standards high, and is continually trying to learn and grow her knowledge of food & wine. She always has a smile on her face, and our guests love her!

What is her favorite part of her job:
Giving people a wonderful dinning experience and making a connection with them so they will remember us. Not only just for our wonderful food but for the all around experience.

Shrimp & Grits- The dish has all my favorites to it-Andouille Sausage, Bell Peppers and Onions. But the best part is our smoked Gouda grits with bacon and a blacked cream sauce smothered on top! Full of flavor and delicious!

Would have to the Berry Lemonade-Tony takes blackberries, raspberries and strawberries and infuses them with Tito’s Vodka. We finish the drink with fresh squeezed lemon juice and organic agave nectar in a tall glass. A fresh berry skewer and a lemon twist-Very Refreshing
